5.8 Tools to Measure Performance
You can’t improve what you don’t measure. Set up simple tracking for key metrics (KPIs – Key Performance Indicators). Common KPIs include:
Sales metrics: Total sales revenue, number of units sold, or conversion rate (percentage of website visitors who buy).
Repeat purchase rate: What percent of customers come back to buy again.
Customer satisfaction: Measures like Net Promoter Score (NPS) or customer service ratings.
Online metrics: Website traffic, social media engagement (likes, shares), email open rates.
Use tools like Google Analytics for web data, or a simple Excel sheet/dashboard for sales numbers. Dashboards or regular reports help you see trends – for example, a monthly chart of sales or a graph of repeat customers over time. This way you can spot problems early (e.g. a sudden drop in sales or website traffic) and test what works (like running one type of ad and seeing if the conversion rate goes up). Keeping these reports straightforward (even a weekly spreadsheet or Google Data Studio dashboard) lets you quickly assess if you’re on track with goals.
